Julius Knuth
Frederik Christian Julius greve Knuth (12 July 1787 – 30 October 1852) was a Danish landowner and county governor. He was the brother of Eggert Christopher Knuth and father of Adam Knuth. Early life and education Knuth was the son of Frederik Knuth. He completed his secondary schooling in 1804 and earned a law degree from the University of Copenhagen in 1809. Career Knuth spent a year as a volunteer in Danske Kancelli before being employed there as an assistant (''auskultant''). In 1811, he was employed (''deputeret'') in Det vestindisk-Guineiske Rente- og Generaltoldkammer. In 1815, Knut was appointed county governor (''amtmand'') of Holbæk County. In 1831, he was appointed prefect (''stiftsamtmand'') of the Diocese of Zealand (including Bornholm and the Faroe Islands and county governor of Copenhagen County. Fredrik von Lowzow (27 August 1788 — 7 August 1869) was a Danish civil sercant and judge. He served as prefect of Zealand from 1921 to 1931 and President of the Supreme Court of Denmark from 1843 to 1856. Early life and education Lowzow was born on 27 August 1788 in Copenhagen, the son of ''Geheimekonferensraad'' Adam Gottlieb von Lowzow and Dorothea Sofie Krog. He matriculated from in 1805 and earned a law degree from the University of Copenhagen in 1809. Career Lowzow was after his graduation appointed as ''hofjunker''. On 21 March 1811, he was appointed amtmann of Larvig County in Norway. He was the same year awarded the title of ''kammerjunker''. The Order of the Dannebrog ( da, Dannebrogordenen) is a Danish order of chivalry instituted in 1671 by Christian V. Until 1808, membership in the order was limited to fifty members of noble or royal rank, who formed a single class known as ''White Knights'' to distinguish them from the ''Blue Knights'' who were members of the Order of the Elephant. In 1808, the Order was reformed and divided into four classes. The ''Grand Commander'' class is reserved to persons of princely origin. It is awarded only to royalty with close family ties with the Danish Royal House. The statute of the Order was amended in 1951 by a Royal Ordinance so that both men and women could be members of the Order.
