Julius Berger (cellist)
Julius Berger (born 1954) is a German cellist, musicologist and an academic of chamber music and cello at the Leopold Mozart Centre of the Augsburg University. He recorded the sonatas and concertos by Luigi Boccherini, but also contemporary music by John Cage, Toshio Hosokawa, Adriana Hölszky and Sofia Gubaidulina. He is the artistic director of music festivals. Career Born in Augsburg, Berger studied at the Musikhochschule München with Walter Reichardt and Fritz Kiskalt, then at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Antonio Janigro, before becoming his assistant from 1979 to 1982. He studied further at the University of Cincinnati with Zara Nelsova, and in a master class of Mstislav Rostropovich. He was appointed professor at the Musikhochschule Würzburg at age 28, as one of Germany's youngest professors at the time. Julius Berger (1893 – March 1, 1953) was a Canadian Conservative rabbi. He was the first rabbinic leader of the Shaare Zion Congregation in Montreal. Biography Julius Berger was born in 1893 in Ottawa. His father was Lithuanian-born rabbi Joseph Berger, and his brother was lawyer Sam Berger. Berger was a graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and became rabbi of Shaare Zion Congregation in Montreal in 1925. During the Second World War he served as chaplain with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Berger's academic work focused on Jewish elementary education. He was a founding member of the Canadian Society of Biblical Studies in 1933. Julius Victor Berger
Julius Victor Berger (20 July 1850, Neutitschein, Mähren — 17 November 1902, Vienna) was an Austrian painter who is known primarily for his genre paintings and portraits. Life Julius Berger's was the son of , who was also a painter. He entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna at the young age of 14. In 1874 he was granted a three-year scholarship to study art in Rome. Upon returning to Vienna he briefly shared an apartment with fellow painter Emil Jakob Schindler and his wife Anna Sofie. While Schindler was traveling Berger began an affair with Anna. He was almost certainly the father of Margarethe Julie Schindler (b. 16 August 1880), who was the half sister of Alma Maria Schindler. Berger became a professor of decorative painting at the Wiener Kunstgewerbeschule in 1881, and in 1887 a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. Among his friends was the history painter Hans Makart. Bridge Football Club is a Nigerian football club based in Lagos that was founded in 1976. As a result of its association with the Julius Berger construction company, the club was known as Julius Berger Football Club until 2010. The club has won national championships and competed internationally. Julius Bürger
Julius Burger (Bürger) (Vienna 11 March 1897 - New York City, 12 June 1995) was an Austrian then American composer, pianist and conductor. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Music under Franz Schreker, and was one of the group of Schreker's pupils - Alois Hába, Jascha Horenstein, Ernst Křenek, Karol Rathaus - who followed Schreker to Berlin when Schreker was appointed Director of the Hochschule für Musik. He had a long association with the Metropolitan Opera, New York first dating from his apprenticeship in 1924–1927, when Bruno Walter recommended him as assistant to Artur Bodanzky. He was an assistant to Otto Klemperer at the Kroll Opera, then following the Nazi ban on Jewish artists in 1933, drifted between Vienna, Brussels and Paris as well as visits to London to work for the BBC as an orchestrater.
