Saint Julius the Veteran (), also known as Julius of Silistra, Durostorum, is a Christian martyr venerated as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church, Roman Catholic Church and the Church of England. Julius Brink (born 6 July 1982) is a German beach volleyball player who won the gold medal in the men's beach team competition at the 2006 European Beach Volleyball Championships in The Hague, Netherlands, partnering with Christoph Dieckmann. He took part at the Olympic Games in 2008. Julius Nicolas Boros (March 3, 1920 – May 28, 1994) was an American professional golfer noted for his effortless-looking swing and strong record on difficult golf courses, particularly at the U.S. Open. Julius Balkow (1909–1973) was an East German engineer and socialist politician who served as the minister of foreign trade from 1961 to 1965 and deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers from 1965 to 1967. Julius Axelrod (May 30, 1912 – December 29, 2004) was an American biochemist. He won a share of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1970 along with Bernard Katz and Ulf von Euler. The Nobel Committee honored him for his work on the release and reuptake of catecholamine neurotransmitters, a class of chemicals in the brain that include epinephrine, norepinephrine, and, as was later discovered, dopamine. Axelrod also made major contributions to the understanding of the pineal gland and how it is regulated during the sleep-wake cycle.
