Julien Élie is a Canadian documentary filmmaker from Quebec, most noted for his films ''Dark Suns (Soleils noirs)'' and ''The White Guard (La Guardia blanca)''.Megan Durnford"Julien Elie Captures Stories of Courageous Land Defenders in La Guardia Blanca" ''Point of View'', November 21, 2023. He began his career with a supporting role as Pierre in the 1984 film ''The Dog Who Stopped the War (La Guerre des tuques)'', but later worked as a boom operator on films rather than continuing an acting career. He released his first documentary film, ''The One Who Knew (Celui qui savait)'', in 2001. The film centred on the investigation into the assassination of Rwandan politician Seth Sendashonga. He followed up with ''The Last Meal (Le Dernier repas)'', about prisoners on death row in Texas, in 2003. ''Dark Suns'' and ''The White Guard'' both focused on the issue of violent crime in Mexico. The Prix Iris for Best Documentary Film () is an annual film award presented by Québec Cinéma as part of its Prix Iris program, to honour the year's best documentary film made within the cinema of Quebec. Until 2016, it was known as the Jutra Award for Best Documentary in memory of influential Quebec film director Claude Jutra. Following the withdrawal of Jutra's name from the award, the 2016 award was presented under the name Québec Cinéma. The Prix Iris name was announced in October 2016. 22nd Quebec Cinema Awards
The 22nd Quebec Cinema Awards were presented on 10 June 2020, to recognize talent and achievement in the cinema of Quebec. The planned 7 June ceremony was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but nominees were announced 23 April. Abenaki documentary filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin was also selected as the recipient of the Iris Tribute at the unanimous recommendation of Québec Cinéma's Comité de représentation professionnelle. Prix Iris
Prix was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1975 by Tommy Hoehn and Jon Tiven. The group ended up primarily as a studio project. Its recordings were produced by Tiven along with former Big Star member Chris Bell, who also played guitar and sang backup vocals. Prix is also famous for its use of banjo. Alex Chilton also participated in the recordings, along with session drummer Hilly Michaels. Although the group generated some major record label interest—notably from Mercury Records and Columbia/CBS Records—it ultimately only released a double A-side single on Ork Records in 1977 and a single on Miracle Records in 1978. Its only live performance came at a CBS Records showcase in 1976. In 1977, just as Ork Records released the first single and booked the group at CBGB, Prix broke up due both to Hoehn's unwillingness to remain in New York and to creative differences.
