Julian Pahlke
Julian Nils Christoph Pahlke (born 15 October 1991) is a German politician of Alliance 90/The Greens who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag in the 2021 German federal election. Early career Pahlke was a crew member of the ship ''Iuventa'' of the organization Jugend Rettet for several years. From 2020 to 2021, he worked as parliamentary assistant to Claudia Roth. Political career Pahlke became a member of the German Bundestag in 2021, representing the Unterems district. In parliament, Pahlke has served on the Committee on Internal Affairs and Community and the Committee on European Affairs. In addition to his committee assignments, Pahlke has been a member of the German delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) since 2022. |
Bundestag
The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet (assembly), Diet") is the lower house of the Germany, German Federalism in Germany, federal parliament. It is the only constitutional body of the federation directly elected by the German people. Alliance 90/The Greens
Alliance 90/The Greens (, ), often simply referred to as Greens (, ), is a Green (politics), green political party in Germany. It was formed in 1993 by the merger of the Greens (formed in West Germany in 1980) and Alliance 90 (formed in East Germany in 1990). The Greens had itself merged with the East German Green Party after German reunification in 1990. Since November 2024, Franziska Brantner and Felix Banaszak have been co-leaders of the party. It currently holds 85 of the 630 seats in the Bundestag, having won 11% of first votes and 11.6% of second votes cast in the 2025 German federal election, 2025 federal election, putting it in fourth place of the seven political parties by number of seats. University Of Flensburg
The University of Flensburg (; EUF) is a university in the city of Flensburg, Germany. It was founded in 1994 and is the northernmost university in Germany. Although it has full university status and the right to award PhDs, mainly offers courses in education and other fields of the social sciences. The university holds German-Danish undergraduate courses in cooperation with the University of Southern Denmark at Sønderborg, which involve an association with the Fachhochschule Flensburg. 2021 German Federal Election
The 2021 German federal election was held in Germany on 26 September 2021 to elect the members of the 20th Bundestag. State elections in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern were also held. Incumbent chancellor Angela Merkel, first elected in 2005, chose not to run again, marking the first time that an incumbent Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany did not seek re-election. With 25.7% of total votes, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) recorded their best result since 2005, and emerged as the largest party for the first time since 2002. The ruling CDU/CSU, which had led a grand coalition with the SPD since 2013, recorded their worst ever result with 24.1%, a significant decline from 32.9% in 2017. Jugend Rettet
Jugend Rettet is a non-governmental organization (NGO) from Berlin. Its goal is to save drowning persons at the Mediterranean Sea. Operations are conducted with the ''Iuventa'', a ship that sails under Dutch flag. This ship was seized in August 2017 after suspicion of cooperation with migrant smugglers. The organization is divided into three divisions. First there is the ''Iuventa'' crew, with the straplines "Solidarity at Sea" and "Solidarity is not a Crime". The name ''Iuventa'' originates from the Roman god of youth and courage. Second, there is a department to encourage political awareness of certain issues. Third, there is a discussion platform for the right of asylum. Claudia Roth
Claudia Benedikta Roth (; born 15 May 1955) is a German politician (Alliance 90/The Greens) and member of the Bundestag. In addition to her work in parliament, Roth served as Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media in the government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz from 2021 to 2025. She was one of the two party chairs from 2004 to 2013 and previously served as one of the vice presidents of the ''Bundestag''. Biography Roth was born in Ulm, Germany. Unterems is an electoral constituency (German: ''Wahlkreis'') represented in the Bundestag. It elects one member via first-past-the-post voting.
