Julia Fischer (athlete)
Julia Harting (née Fischer; born 1 April 1990 in Berlin) is a German athlete who specialises in the discus throw. She won the silver medal at the 2016 European Championships, and has represented Germany at two Olympics (2012 and 2016). She was a u18 World Champion in 2007. Fischer represented Germany at the 2012 European Athletics Championships where she finished 5th in the discus event with a throw of 62.10 metres. 2014 European Athletics Championships
The 2014 European Athletics Championships was held in Zürich, Switzerland, between 12 and 17 August 2014. It was the first time that Switzerland had hosted the European Athletics Championships since 1954. 2013 World Championships In Athletics – Women's Discus Throw
The women's discus throw at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Luzhniki Stadium on 10–11 August. There were 6 automatic qualifiers for the final. It took 60.14 to get in. In the final Sandra Perković dominated from her first throw. Any of her three fair throws would have won the competition. Yarelys Barrios was a solid second place from her first throw, but she never improved. Meanwhile, Mélina Robert-Michon did improve, her third round throw putting her into second and her final throw more than a meter further to improve her own French records in athletics, French national record set more than 11 years (and one daughter) earlier. The record throw was all the more remarkable due to the rainy conditions that hampered the rest of the field, hers was the only improvement after the rains started toward the end of the fourth round. The women's discus throw competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom was held at the Olympic Stadium on 3–4 August. Each athlete received three throws in the qualifying round. All who achieved the qualifying distance progressed to the final. If less than twelve athletes were to achieve this mark, then the twelve furthest throwing athletes would reach the final. Each finalist is allowed three throws in last round, with the top eight athletes after that point being given three further attempts. Eight automatic qualifiers were achieved in the qualifying round, all but one exceeding the minimum by half a meter. Athletics At The 2012 Summer Olympics
The athletics competitions at the 2012 Olympic Games in London were held during the last 10 days of the Games, on 3–12 August. Track and field events took place at the Olympic Stadium in east London. The road events, however, started and finished on The Mall in central London. Over 2,000 athletes from 201 nations competed in 47 events in total, with both men and women having a very similar schedule of events. Men competed in 24 events and women in 23, of which 21 were the same for both. The women's schedule lacked the 50 km race walk and included 100 m hurdles and heptathlon as opposed to the men's 110 m hurdles and decathlon.
