Jules Gersie
Jules Gersie (13 October 1917 – 23 September 2005) was a Surinamese football manager, who managed S.V. Robinhood in the Surinamese Hoofdklasse from 1952 to 1957. Career Born 13 October 1917 Paramaribo, Surinam, Gersie managed S.V. Robinhood in the Hoofdklasse starting in 1952, finishing as runner-up to S.V. Transvaal after the clubs' first season at the top flight. The following season saw Robinhood join Transvaal as tenants of the newly built National Stadium, where Gersie won his first national championship with Robinhood. The SVB Eerste Divisie is the second highest football championship for clubs run by the Surinaamse Voetbal Bond. The league currently comprises twelve teams and operates a system of promotion and relegation. Seasons run from November to June, with each team playing 30 games in the regular season. The league was previously known as the Hoofdklasse but was rebranded as the Topklasse for the 2016–17 season, before being renamed the Eerste Divisie starting in the 2017–18 season. In 2024, the SVB introduced a new professional competition, the Suriname Major League, with the Eerste Divisie now serving as the nation's top amateur competition. André Kamperveen Stadion
André Kamperveen Stadium, formerly the National Stadion, is a multi-purpose stadium in Paramaribo, Suriname. Since its opening in 1953, the stadium has been the official home stadium of both football teams S.V. Transvaal and S.V. Robinhood and the official national stadium of the Suriname national football team. With an official capacity of 7,100, it is the largest stadium in Suriname. The stadium is also home to the Suriname Athletics Federation (SAB) as well as the Suriname Cycling Union (SWU). In 1997 Walking Boyz Company joined Transvaal and Robinhood as the third football team to make the stadium their home. In 2014 both Robinhood and Walking Boyz Company relocated to the Frank Essed Stadion, with Robinhood ending a 51-year tenure at the Stadium.
