Jules Buck
Jules Buck (July 30, 1917 – July 19, 2001) was an American film producer. Career He was a cameraman for John Huston's war documentaries and began producing as assistant to Mark Hellinger. In 1952 he moved to Paris, then London, where he created, in association with Peter O'Toole, the company Keep Films. This produced movies such as ''Lord Jim'' (1963), ''Becket'' (1963), and ''What's New Pussycat?'' (1965). Personal life Buck was born in St Louis, Missouri, on July 30, 1917. From his 1945 marriage to actress Joyce Gates (née Joyce Ruth Getz), Buck had one child, journalist Joan Juliet Buck. He died in Paris on July 19, 2001. A camera operator, or depending on the context cameraman or camerawoman, is a professional operator of a film camera or video camera as part of a film crew. The term "cameraman" does not necessarily imply that a male is performing the task. Duties and functions In filmmaking, the cinematographer or director of photography (DP or DoP) is responsible for bringing Director's vision to life on screen. ''Fixed Bayonets!'' is a 1951 American war film written and directed by Samuel Fuller and produced by Twentieth Century-Fox during the Korean War. It is Fuller's second film about the Korean War. Plot In the first winter of the Korean War, during the Korean War#China intervenes (October–December 1950), Red Chinese intervention, a 48-man platoon is left to defend a choke point while covering the withdrawal of their Division (military), division over an exposed bridge. Ephraim Katz
Ephraim Katz (11 March 1932 – 2 August 1992) was a writer, journalist and filmmaker who devoted his life to gathering the information in his book, ''The Film Encyclopedia'', first published in 1979. Biography Katz, born in Tel Aviv, studied law and economics at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He later studied political science at Hunter College, New York and cinema at New York University. Ephraim was a film reporter and critic in Israel, before moving to the United States in 1959. Residing in New York City, he made television documentaries for CBS, including ''The Taste of Sunday'', one of its first in color, and later for NBC. Katz, Quentin Reynolds, and Zwy Aldouby co-wrote the book ''Minister of Death: The Adolf Eichmann Story'' (1960), about Israel's capture of Eichmann. Robert James Leslie Halliwell (23 February 1929 – 21 January 1989) was a British film critic, encyclopaedist and television rights buyer for ITV, the British commercial network, and Channel 4. He is best known for his reference guides, '' Filmgoer's Companion'' (1965), a single volume film-related encyclopaedia featuring biographies (with credits) and technical terms, and ''Halliwell's Film Guide'' (1977), which is dedicated to individual films. James Rufus Agee ( ; November 27, 1909 – May 16, 1955) was an American novelist, journalist, poet, screenwriter and film critic.
