Julau is a federal constituency in Sarikei Division (Sarikei District, Pakan District and Julau District), Sarawak, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat since 1971. The federal constituency was created in the 1968 redistribution and is mandated to return a single member to the Dewan Rakyat under the first past the post voting system. He served as Member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pelagus (state constituency), Pelagus from September 2001 to April 2011. He was previously the State Chairman of the People's Justice Party (Malaysia), People's Justice Party (PKR) of Sarawak, a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. On 28 February 2021, he left PKR to become an independent politician, independent again and declared support for the ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
