Košarkaški klub Split (), commonly referred to as KK Split or simply Split, is a men's professional basketball club based in Split, Croatia. The club competes in the ABA League and the Croatian League. Under its former name of KK Jugoplastika, the club was one of the most successful of the Yugoslav era, winning several national titles in the 1970s and the 1980s. By winning the FIBA European Champions Cup for three consecutive years, from 1989 to 1991, it is also one of the most successful clubs in the history of European basketball. History The club's roots are found in Hajduk sports society's basketball section, which was established in 1945. FIBA Korać Cup
The FIBA Korać Cup was an annual basketball club competition held by FIBA Europe between the 1971–72 and 2001–02 seasons. It was the European professional club basketball system, third-tier level club competition in European basketball, after the FIBA European Champions Cup (later renamed the EuroLeague) and the FIBA Cup Winners Cup (later renamed the FIBA Saporta Cup). The last Korać Cup season was held during the 2001–02 FIBA Korać Cup, 2001–02 season. History The Korać Cup was named after the legendary Yugoslav player Radivoj Korać, killed in 1969 in a car accident near Sarajevo. Dino Rađa
Dino Rađa (alternatively Radja, ; born 24 April 1967) is a Croatian former professional basketball player. He was a member of the Jugoplastika team of the late 1980s and early 1990s, which he helped to win two FIBA European Champions Cup championships ( 1989 and 1990). He spent three and a half seasons with the Boston Celtics, being one of the European pioneers in the NBA. Rađa was named one of FIBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1991, and one of the 50 Greatest EuroLeague Contributors in 2008. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, as a member of the 2018 class. He was inducted into the Greek Basket League Hall of Fame, in 2022. Club career Split Rađa began his basketball life in his native town, as a junior at KK Dalvin. 1989–90 FIBA European Champions Cup
The 1989–90 FIBA European Champions Cup was the 33rd season of the European professional club basketball system, European top-tier level professional FIBA Europe, FIBA EuroLeague, European Champions Cup (now called EuroLeague). It was won by KK Split, Jugoplastika, after they beat FC Barcelona Bàsquet, FC Barcelona Banca Catalana 72–67. It was the club's second title overall. The culminating 1990 EuroLeague Final Four was held at Príncipe Felipe Arena, Pabellón Príncipe Felipe, Zaragoza, Spain, on 17–19 April 1990. Yugoslav First Basketball League
The First Federal Basketball League () was the highest tier level men's professional club basketball competition in the former country of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, SFR Yugoslavia. Founded in 1945, and folded in 1992 (1991–92 YUBA League, 1991–92 Winer Broker YUBA League), it was run by the Basketball Federation of Yugoslavia. With a total of 16 European-wide trophy winners and 11 finalists, the Yugoslav First Basketball League was one of the strongest European national domestic basketball leagues of all time. Toni Kukoč
Toni Kukoč (; born September 18, 1968) is a Croatian former professional basketball player who serves as Special Advisor to Jerry Reinsdorf, the owner of the Chicago Bulls. After a highly successful period in European basketball, he was one of the first established European stars to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Kukoč played for four NBA teams between 1993 and 2006, winning the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 1996. He is a three-time NBA champion, having won championships with the Chicago Bulls in 1996, 1997 and 1998. Nicknamed "The Waiter” & “the Croatian Sensation," Kukoč is renowned for his versatility and passing ability. Zoran Savić ( sr-Cyrl, Зоран Савић; born November 18, 1966) is a Serbian professional basketball executive and former professional player who is currently the sports director for Partizan Belgrade of the Serbian KLS, the Adriatic League and the EuroLeague. The tall center played in various European countries throughout his career. Professional career Savić made first career steps as a basketball player with Čelik in the First League of Yugoslavia. Velimir Perasović
Velimir Perasović (; born 9 February 1965) is a Croatian professional basketball coach and former player. He is serving as the head coach for the Russian team BC UNICS, UNICS Kazan of the VTB United League. Early life Perasović was born in Stobreč, at that time in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, SFR Yugoslavia, to parents Gašpar and Vica Perasović. He started playing basketball at age 14. Žan Tabak
Žan Tabak (born 15 June 1970) is a Croatian professional basketball coach and former player who is now serving as the head coach for Trefl Sopot of the PLK. His basketball career, spanning twenty years, was marked by several notable achievements, despite injuries. He was the first international player to play in the NBA Finals for two teams. European Basketball Triple Crown
In European professional club basketball, the Triple Crown refers to a club winning their country's top-tier level national domestic league, their county's primary national domestic cup, and the top-tier level European-wide continental competition, which is the EuroLeague, all in the same season.
