Judy Robson
Judith Biros Robson (born November 21, 1939) is a retired American nurse, nursing instructor, and Democratic politician. She served 12 years in the Wisconsin State Senate and 12 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Rock County. She was the first female Democratic State Senate majority leader in Wisconsin history. Biography Robson was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and now lives in Beloit, Wisconsin. She received a B.S.N. degree from St. John's College in Cleveland, and a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1976. She is a registered nurse. Before being elected to public office, Robson worked as a nurse and as an instructor, primarily at Blackhawk Technical College. Robson was elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in June 1987 in a special election to replace Timothy Weeden (who had been elected to the State Senate). Wisconsin State Senate
The Wisconsin Senate is the upper house of the Wisconsin State Legislature. Together with the larger Wisconsin State Assembly they constitute the legislative branch of the state of Wisconsin. The powers of the Wisconsin Senate are modeled after those of the U.S. Senate. The Wisconsin Constitution ties the size of the State Senate to that of the Assembly, by limiting its size to no less than 1/4, nor more than 1/3, of the size of the Assembly. Currently, Wisconsin is divided into 33 Senate Districts (1/3 of the current Assembly membership of 99) apportioned throughout the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 33 senators. Wisconsin Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives.
