Judy Moorcroft
Judy Moorcroft (21 September 1933 – 13 December 1991) was a British costume designer. She was nominated for two Academy Awards in the category Best Costume Design for the films ''The Europeans'' (1979) and ''A Passage to India'' (1985). Moorcroft is also known for her work as costume designer on the films '' The Killing Fields'' (1984) and '' The Dressmaker'' (1988) amongst others. Education and early career Moorcroft studied dress design at Manchester College of Art in the early 1950s. After moving into costume, she started working at the BBC in 1964. Career As costume designer for the 1977 film ''The Prince and the Pauper'' (American title ''Crossed Swords''), Moorcroft worked with wardrobe mistresses Dorothy Edwards and Betty Adamson. A costume designer is a person who designs costumes for a film, stage production or television show. The role of the costume designer is to create the characters' outfits or costumes and balance the scenes with texture and colour, etc. The costume designer works alongside the director, scenic, lighting designer, sound designer, and other creative personnel. The costume designer may also collaborate with a hair stylist, wig master, or makeup artist. In European theatre, the role is different, as the theatre designer usually designs both costume and scenic elements. Rosemary Burrows
Rosemary Burrows, also known as Rosie Burrows, was a costume designer, wardrobe mistress and costume supervisor for British films, including many in the Hammer Horror series and James Bond franchise. She has over 100 credits from 1958 to 2005, and was recognised for her creativity and efficiency with budgets; one colleague at Hammer remembered, "her creative mind was utterly boundless". Career Rosemary Burrows studied pottery at Berkshire College of Art before getting a job at Hammer's Bray studios, where she was paid £11 per week as assistant to Wardrobe Mistress Molly Arbuthnot.
