Albert Vickers Bryan
Albert Vickers Bryan (July 23, 1899 – March 13, 1984) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and previously was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the father of another federal judge, Albert Vickers Bryan Jr. Education and career Born in Alexandria, Virginia, Bryan received a Bachelor of Laws from University of Virginia School of Law in 1921. He was in private practice of law in Alexandria from 1921 to 1947. Federal judicial service Bryan was nominated by President Harry S Truman on May 15, 1947, to a seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia vacated by Judge Robert Nelson Pollard. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on June 3, 1947, and received his commission on June 5, 1947. He served as Chief Judge from 1959 to 1961. Frederick Van Pelt Bryan
Frederick van Pelt Bryan (April 27, 1904 – April 17, 1978) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Education and career Born in Brooklyn, New York, Bryan received an Artium Baccalaureus degree from Columbia College in 1925 and a Bachelor of Laws from Columbia Law School in 1928. He was in private practice in New York City from 1928 to 1933. He was an assistant corporation counsel in New York City from 1933 to 1937, and a first assistant corporation counsel from 1938 to 1942. He served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, from 1942 to 1946. He was initially commissioned as a first lieutenant and rose to the rank of colonel by the end of his service. He served in Europe and the Mediterranean, and received the Legion of Merit, the Croix de Guerre and the Order of the British Empire. George Seabrook Bryan (May 22, 1809 – September 28, 1905) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. Education and career Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Bryan read law to enter the bar. Federal judicial service On February 9, 1866, Bryan was nominated by President Andrew Johnson to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina vacated by Judge Andrew Gordon Magrath. Bryan was confirmed by the United States Senate on March 12, 1866, and received his commission the same day. Bryan's service was terminated on September 1, 1886, due to his retirement. Jeffrey Marc Bryan (born April 16, 1976) is an American lawyer from Minnesota who has served as a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota since 2023. He previously served as a judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals from 2019 to 2023. Early life and education Bryan was born on April 16, 1976, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. His mother's family is of Mexican descent. His mother was a high school English teacher and inspired Bryan to pursue a career in law after she read him the book ''To Kill a Mockingbird''. Education and career Born in Bremerton, Washington, Bryan was in the United States Army Reserve from 1955 to 1957, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1956, where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity.
