Juan Solís
Juan Felipe Solís Arboleda (born 5 March 1999) is a Colombian weightlifter, competing in the 85 kg category until 2018 and 81 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. Career He competed at the 2019 Pan American Weightlifting Championships in the 81 kg division winning a bronze medal. Later in 2019 he competed at the 2019 Junior World Weightlifting Championships winning a silver medal in the snatch, gold medal in the clean & jerk and silver in the total, finishing 1 kg behind gold medalist Ritvars Suharevs. In February 2020, he was provisionally suspended after testing positive for the anabolic steroid boldenone. Olympic Weightlifting
Weightlifting (often known as Olympic weightlifting) is a competitive strength athletics, strength sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with the aim of successfully lifting the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead. The ''Snatch (weightlifting), snatch'' is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The ''clean and jerk'' is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders (the ''clean''), and then from the shoulders to over the head (the ''jerk''). The sport formerly included a third lift/event known as clean and press. Each weightlifter gets three attempts at both the snatch and the clean and jerk, with the snatch attempted first. The Bolivarian Games (Spanish: ''Juegos Bolivarianos'', full name ''Juegos Deportivos Bolivarianos'') are a regional multi-sport event held in honor of Simón Bolívar, and organized by the Bolivarian Sports Organization (''Organización Deportiva Bolivariana'', ODEBO). The 2024 Bolivarian Games, officially 2024 Bicentennial Bolivarian Games (), was the 20th edition of the multi-sport event meant for sports, or disciplines or events within a sport, that are not contested in the Olympic Games, governed by the Organización Deportiva Bolivariana (ODEBO). International Weightlifting Federation
The International Weightlifting Federation, aka IWF, is the international governing body for the sport of Weightlifting. Headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, it has 193 affiliated national federations. Mohammed Hasan Jalood has been its president since June 2022. The IWF organizes the World Weightlifting Championships, as well as world championship events for Youth and Juniors. It also cooperates with the International Olympic Committee in the organization of Weightlifting events at the Olympic Games; however, weightlifting's inclusion in the 2028 Olympics is uncertain, due to doping issues within the sport, and governance issues within IWF, and weightlifting's inclusion is expected to be decided by an IOC meeting in 2023. Ritvars Suharevs (born 11 January 1999) is a Latvian weightlifter, and Junior World Champion competing in the 77 kg category until 2018 and 81 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. Career Suharevs' first major result came at the 2013 European Youth Championships held in Klaipėda, Lithuania where he won three golds; coming first in the overall classification along with the individual snatch and clean & jerk. The following year, in 2014, Suharevs won gold again at the European Youth Championships hosted in Ciechanów, this time in the −62 kg with a total lift of 256 kg.
