Juan Pablo Forero
Juan Pablo Forero Carreño (born August 3, 1983) is a professional track and road cyclist from Colombia. He has represented Colombia at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he won a silver medal in team pursuit with team mates Carlos Alzate, Arles Castro and Jairo Pérez. He also competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, PR China. He was born in Cota, Cundinamarca. Cota, Cundinamarca
Cota is a municipality and town of Colombia in the Central Savanna Province of the department of Cundinamarca. Cota is part of the metropolitan area of Colombian capital Bogotá which centre is away. The urban centre of Cota is located at an altitude of and the municipality borders Chía in the north, Funza in the south, Suba, part of Bogotá in the east and Tenjo in the west. History In the time before the Spanish conquest, the Bogotá savanna was inhabited by the Muisca, organized in the southern Muisca Confederation. The ruler of Bacatá ('' zipa'') controlled Cota. The Muisca called the town ''Gota'', which is either a personal name of derived from ''cota''; "curl". Cota still has a surviving Muisca population. Vuelta A Colombia
The Vuelta a Colombia (Spanish for ''Tour of Colombia'') is an annual cycling road race, run over many stages throughout different regions in Colombia and sometimes Venezuela and Ecuador during the first days of August. It is organized by the Colombian Cycling Federation, and was previously included in the UCI America Tour. History The first Vuelta a Colombia was held in 1951 as an idea of Englishman Donald W. Raskin and a few of his friends, emulating the European Tour de France. It was a 1,233 kilometers race which was divided in 10 stages which included three rest days. Thirty-five cyclists lined up for the race and of which thirty finished the race. The first champion of the Vuelta was Efraín Forero Triviño who won seven stages of the race. For the second edition, the race was increased in stages to 13 and was around 1,670 km in length. It was held from the 12 to the 27 or 28 January 1952. The Clásico RCN (Spanish for ''RCN Classic'') is an annual cycling road race that takes place over many stages through different regions of Colombia during October. It is organized by the Colombian Cycling Federation. The event is sponsored by Radio Cadena Nacional, which is one of the oldest and largest radio networks in Colombia, and by a network of Colombian business in Medellín "Empresas Públicas de Medellín". The Clásico RCN and the Vuelta a Colombia are the most important stage races in Colombia. History The first event was held in 1961 and was won by Rubén Darío Gómez.
