Juan Márquez (actor)
Juan Márquez (1565–1621) was a Spanish ascetic writer. He studied at the University of Toledo and was professor of theology at Salamanca. He was appointed preacher of King Philip III of Spain. Philip III (; 14 April 1578 – 31 March 1621) was King of Spain and King of Portugal, Portugal (where he is known as Philip II of Portugal) during the Iberian Union. It contributed to a long-running debate within the Augustinian order as to whether the Order of Saint Augustine, friars (hermits) or the Canons regular#Augustine, canons were the older-established foundation. Márquez argued that the hermits were the more ancient establishment.
