Juan Esquivel Y Fuentes
Juan Esquivel y Fuentes (27 December 1869–) was a Mexican poet, priest and public speaker from the town of Santa María Tepepan, in what is today the Mexico City's borough of Xochimilco. He was better known for his poetry collection called "", on which he worked from 1932 until his death in 1955, constantly adding new poems, deleting older ones and frequently changing the structure and contents of the others throughout the eight published editions. During his life he taught math at the Seminario Conciliar de México and traveled to the Levant, Egypt and Europe as a preacher and public speaker. Santa María Tepepan
Santa María Tepepan () is one of the 14 recognized original ("towns" or "townships") that form the Mexico City borough of Xochimilco. It sits on the lower edges of the mountain chain that limits Mexico City to the south. Although it is in Mexico City's territory, it conserves a lot of rural characteristics, like winding cobblestone streets, and economic activities, equestrianism being one of the most important ones until recently. Its church, called ("Holy Mary of the Visitation"), dates to the seventeenth century, although it was rebuilt in the nineteenth century, and was raised on top of the original shrine built in the XVIth century when the town was founded; which, in turn, allegedly sat above a pre-Hispanic shrine to the Aztec goddess Tonantzin. Poetic Prose
Prose poetry is poetry written in prose form instead of verse form while otherwise deferring to poetic devices to make meaning. Prose offers a lot of creative freedom to writers, and does not contain as many rules as some poetic styles do. Many writers have different opinions on the form of this genre because it is so open, which makes it harder to objectively define.
