João Tomás
João Henrique Pataco Tomás (born 27 May 1975) is a Portuguese retired professional footballer who played as a forward. He represented mostly Braga (three seasons) and Rio Ave (four) during his 19-year senior career. In his only full season with Benfica he scored 17 goals in 31 games, going on to amass Primeira Liga totals of 261 matches and 98 goals over ten campaigns. Abroad, Tomás spent some time in Spain and Asia. Club career Born in Oliveira do Bairro, Aveiro District, João Tomás achieved some notability playing for Académica de Coimbra, earning the nickname of ''O Jardel de Coimbra'' (Coimbra's Jardel) after Mário Jardel. Although it covers most sports, football is the focal point of it, and almost always is the only sport referred to on the cover. History and profile ''Record'' was founded by Manuel Dias. In professional association football, a free transfer, also known as a Bosman transfer, involves a professional association football club releasing a player when the player's contract has expired or made available just before the end of the contract. The player can then go on to sign for any club offering a contract to them. CNN Portugal is a Portuguese basic cable and satellite television news channel owned by Media Capital, launched on 26 February 2009 as TVI 24, the 24-hour news channel of the terrestrial network Televisão Independente.
