João Moreira Salles
João Moreira Salles (Rio de Janeiro, born 1962) is a Brazilian documentarian and president of the Moreira Salles Institute. In 2006, he founded the magazine piauí. He has also taught courses on documentary at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and Princeton University. Moreira Salles Institute
The Moreira Salles Institute (, IMS) is a Brazilian nonprofit organization founded by diplomat and banker Walter Moreira Salles in 1992, with the establishment of its first cultural center in the city of Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais. Later, the institute expanded its operations to São Paulo (1996), in a mansion located in the Higienópolis neighborhood, and to Rio de Janeiro (1999), in a former Moreira Salles family residence, built in 1951 with architectural design by Olavo Redig de Campos and landscaping by Burle Marx. Kátia Lund (born March 13, 1966) is a Brazilian film director and screenwriter. Her most notable work was as co-director of the film '' City of God''. Early life Lund was born in São Paulo, to American parents who emigrated to Brazil before she was born. She graduated from Escola Maria Imaculada, an American Catholic school in São Paulo where she excelled in art. She then attended Brown University, where she became interested in filmmaking. The Havana Film Festival is a Cuban festival that focuses on the promotion of Latin American filmmakers.
