Joy Coghill
Joy Dorothy Coghill-Thorne, CM, (May 13, 1926 – January 20, 2017) was a Canadian actress, director, and writer. Her obituary in ''The Vancouver Sun'' described her as having had "a seven-decade run at the top of the Vancouver theatre world." Early life and education Coghill was born in Findlater, Saskatchewan, Canada on May 13, 1926, the daughter of J.G. Coghill and Dorothy Pollard Coghill. Her father was a Presbyterian minister. She was educated at King's Park Secondary School King's Park Secondary School, on Fetlar Drive, in the King's Park, Glasgow, King's Park area (or specifically in the Simshill area) of south Glasgow, is a Scottish non-denominational State school#Scotland, state school. Findlater, Saskatchewan
Findlater ( 2016 population: ) is a special service area in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality (RM) of Duffering No. 190 and Census Division No. 6. It is 75 km northwest of Regina, Saskatchewan's capital, on Highway 11, and 15 km from the Town of Chamberlain. The original settlers had been looking for the neighbouring community of Chamberlain but, due to fatigue amongst the tribesmen, decided to rest at the site. They quickly settled and developed basic living amenities despite promises from the tribe leaders that they would soon move on and "find the new village". This continued for several months as the settlement evolved – tribesmen receiving the same responses to questions of the new community; "We'll find it later", or simply, "findlater". ''The Sleep Room'' is a 1998 Canadian television movie about experiments on Canadian mental patients that were carried out in the 1950s and 1960s by Donald Ewen Cameron and funded by the CIA's MKUltra program. It originally aired as a miniseries and is based on the book ''In The Sleep Room: The Story of CIA Brainwashing Experiments in Canada'' by Anne Collins.
