José Julio Ruiz
José Julio Ruiz Barzán (born March 24, 1985) is a Cuban professional baseball player who is a free agent. After playing in the Cuban National Series for Santiago de Cuba from 2003 through 2009 and for the Cuba national baseball team in international tournaments, Ruiz defected from Cuba to play baseball in the United States. Career Ruiz debuted with Santiago de Cuba in the 2003-04 Serie Nacional, going 6 for 26 with a walk; he also pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs. He did not play in 2004-05. In 2005-06, he hit .357/.428/.473 but only homered twice in 241 AB despite manning a power position. He was 7th in the league in average. Ruiz batted .323/.430/.455 in 2006-07 and led the Serie Nacional with 72 RBI. He was with Cuba for the 2007 World Port Tournament and put on a fine show, hitting .290/.405/.742. First Baseman
A first baseman, abbreviated 1B, is the player on a baseball or softball team who fields the area nearest first base, the first of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. The first baseman is responsible for the majority of plays made at that base. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the first baseman is assigned the number 3. Also called first sacker or cornerman, the first baseman is ideally a tall player who throws left-handed and possesses good flexibility and quick reflexes. Flexibility is needed because the first baseman receives throws from the other infielders, the catcher and the pitcher after they have fielded ground balls. Roger Kieschnick
Roger Keith Kieschnick (born January 21, 1987) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks. Early life Born in Dallas, Texas, Kieschnick went to Rockwall High School in Rockwall, Texas. College career Kieschnick attended Texas Tech University, where he played college baseball. As a sophomore in 2007, he was named an All-Big 12 Conference performer. He played for the United States national baseball team and competed in the 2006 World University Baseball Championship winning gold, the 2007 Pan-American Games winning silver, and the 2007 World Port Tournament winning silver as well. In his junior season at Texas Tech, he scored 47 runs and hit .305 with 15 doubles, three triples, 17 home runs and 65 RBI in 55 games played.
