José Francisco Rojo
José Francisco 'Txetxu' Rojo Arroitia (28 January 1947 – 23 December 2022), also known as Rojo I, was a Spanish football player and coach. During his career the forward played solely for Athletic Bilbao, in a professional spell which spanned nearly 20 years. He was one of the club's most iconic players, and later also worked as a coach with the team. Rojo was given the nickname the "Mozart of football" by composer Carmelo Bernaola. Club career Born in Bilbao, Biscay, Rojo joined local giants Athletic Bilbao's youth ranks at an early age. In 1965 he started playing for its reserves but, after only three appearances, was promoted to the first team, and stayed there until his professional retirement 17 years later. Forward (association Football)
Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. As with any attacking player, the role of the forward relies heavily on being able to create space for attack. José Ángel Rojo
José Ángel Rojo Arroitia (born 19 March 1948) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He played 192 La Liga matches over nine seasons, totalling 14 goals for Athletic Bilbao and Racing de Santander. Club career Athletic Bilbao Born in Bilbao, Biscay ( Basque Country), Rojo joined the youth system of hometown club Athletic Bilbao in his last year as a junior. He made his senior debut with neighbouring SD Indautxu, being loaned twice to the Segunda División team and being relegated as many times; he also played in this competition with the former's reserves, again dropping down a level in the 1969–70 season after losing a play-off against Villarreal CF. José Ángel Iribar Kortajarena (born 1 March 1943), nicknamed ''El Chopo'' ("the Poplar"), is a Spanish retired football goalkeeper and manager. Having played almost exclusively for Athletic Bilbao, he appeared in more than 600 official games for the club over the course of 18 La Liga seasons, winning two major titles. Iribar represented the Spain national team in the 1964 Nations' Cup and the 1966 World Cup, winning the former tournament. Club career Iribar was born in Zarautz, Gipuzkoa.
