José Brouwers
José Brouwers (26 March 1931 – 3 January 2025) was a Belgian stage director and actor. For 73 years, he animated the cultural life of Liège. He served as deputy director of the Théâtre de Liège and founded the . Brouwers died on 3 January 2025, at the age of 93. The Royal Conservatory of Liège (RCL) () is a historic conservatory in Liège, Belgium. It is one of four conservatories in the French Community of Belgium that offers higher education courses in music and theatre. Located at 29 Piercot Forgeur, the school's principal building was built in 1887 using a neoclassical design by architects Louis Boonen and Laurent Demany. Inside the building is a large concert hall, the , which has recently been entirely renovated. The hall is the major performance venue for the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège. The Order of Arts and Letters () is an order of France established on 2 May 1957 by the Minister of Culture. Its supplementary status to the was confirmed by President Charles de Gaulle in 1963.
