Josvainiai Eldership ( lt, Josvainių seniūnija) is a Lithuanian eldership, located in the southern part of Kėdainiai District Municipality. Eldership was created from the Josvainiai ''selsovet'' in 1993. Geography The territory of Josvainiai Eldership is located mostly in the Nevėžis Plain, but the western edges are in the East Samogitian Plateau. Elderships Of Lithuania
A ''seniūnija'' (in English: eldership, elderate, ward, parish, or subdistrict) is the smallest administrative division of Lithuania. An eldership may comprise a very small region consisting of few villages, one single town, or a part of a big city. Elderships vary in size and population depending on their location and nature. A few elderships make up a municipality. Šilainiai (Kaunas) and Dainava (Kaunas) are the most populous elderates, with population counts over , exceeding the population of some entire municipalities. East Samogitian Plateau
East Samogitian Plateau ( lt, Rytų Žemaičių plynaukštė) is a landform in central Lithuania, the eastern part of the Samogitian Upland. It continues between the in the west and the Central Lithuanian Plain in the east. The Dubysa river marks its western margin, while the Šeduva Ridge and the Radviliškis Ridge mark its eastern margin. Šušvė Landscape Sanctuary
The Šušvė Landscape Sanctuary ( lt, Šušvės kraštovaizdžio draustinis) is a protected area of a state importance in Josvainiai Eldership, Kėdainiai District Municipality, in central Lithuania. It was established in 1974 and covers an area of . It covers the lower course of the Šušvė river between Macgaliai village and the Šušvė confluence with the Nevėžis river. It also include the lower courses of the Šušvė tributaries the Žiedupė, the Vikšrupis and the Putnupys. The aim of the sanctuary is to protect the Šušvė river valley with outcrops and vimba spawning grounds. The valley is of width, depth, slopes and terraces are covered by bushes and leafy groves. The river course is loopy, there are oxbow lakes. The river flow is rapid, deeply burrows into the earth. There are outcrops of Devonic sand, clay and gypsum. Josvainiai Forest
The Josvainiai Forest ( lt, Josvainių miškai) is a forest in Kėdainiai District Municipality, central Lithuania, located to the west from Kėdainiai and 4 km to the north from Josvainiai. It covers an area of . It consists of smaller forests: Josvainiai Forest (proper), Medininkai Forest, Giraitė. The rivers Smilga (river), Smilga, Smilgaitis and Tranys drain the forest (the Nevėžis basin). As of 2005, 52 % of the area was covered by birch, 24 % by spruce, 5 % by Populus tremula, aspen, 8 % by Fraxinus excelsior, ash, 3 % by oak, 3 % by black alder, 3 % by Alnus incana, white alder, 2 % by pine tree groups. Pernarava-Šaravai Forest
The Pernarava-Šaravai Forest ( lt, Pernaravos–Šaravų miškai) is a forest in Kėdainiai District Municipality, central Lithuania, located west from Josvainiai. It covers an area of . It consists of smaller forests: the Šaravai Forest, the Sviliai Forest, the Pernarava Forest, the Juodgiris. Most of the forest is drained by the Šušvė tributaries (the Liedas, the Vikšrupis, the Putnupys) while the western part is drained by the Aluona and its tributary the Sakuona. As of 2005, 50 % of the area was covered by birch, 20 % by spruce, 8 % by aspen, 8 % by ash, 4 % by oak, 9 % by black alder, 1 % by white alder tree groups. Aluona
The Aluona is a river of Kėdainiai district municipality and Kaunas district municipality, Kaunas County, central Lithuania. It flows for 29.7 kilometres and has a basin area of 123.3 km². It is the right tributary of the Nevėžis river. It begins near Dratkalnis village, at the border of Kėdainiai district municipality and Raseiniai district municipality.
