FIDE Titles
FIDE titles are awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE (''Fédération Internationale des Échecs'') for outstanding performance. The highest such title is Grandmaster (GM). Chess World Cup 2023
The Chess World Cup 2023 was a 206-player single-elimination chess tournament that took place in Baku, Azerbaijan from 30 July to 24 August 2023. It was the 10th edition of the Chess World Cup. The top three finishers in the tournament qualified for the 2024 Candidates Tournament. The tournament was held in parallel with the Women's Chess World Cup 2023. Jan-Krzysztof Duda was the defending champion. He lost in the fifth round (last 16) to Fabiano Caruana. Format The tournament was an eight-round knockout event, with the top 50 seeds having been given a bye directly into the second round. The losers of the two semi-finals played a match for third place. The players who finished first, second, and third qualified for the Candidates Tournament 2024, a tournament to decide the challenger for the upcoming World Championship. Mikhail Antipov
Mikhail Aleksandrovich Antipov (russian: Михаил Александрович Антипов; born 10 June 1997) is a Russian chess grandmaster. Chess career At the age of 15, Antipov was awarded the title of Master of Sports of Russia. He earned his first grandmaster norm when he won the First Saturday tournament in December 2011, his second grandmaster norm at the international tournament in Sarajevo in May 2012 and achieved his third grandmaster norm at Riga Technical University Open in August 2013, where he shared third place. Antipov was officially awarded his grandmaster title in October 2013, which at the age of 16, made him the youngest grandmaster in Russia at the time.
