Josh Hanlon
Josh Hanlon (born 7 August 1997) is an Australian Paralympic alpine skier who represented Australia at the 2022 Winter Paralympics. Personal Josh Hanlon was born on 7 August 1997. He comes from Weethalle, New South Wales. At age 20, Hanlon 's had severe bacterial infection, which resulted in toxic shock and sepsis and led to him becoming a double below-knee amputee and the loss of his right hand at the wrist. Hanlon is studying for a Certificate 3 and 4 in physical fitness. Skiing Prior to his Para alpine sit skiing career, Hanlon was a member Greater Western Sydney Giants Academy teams from the age of 15 to 19. In 2019, he became a member Australian Winter Para-alpine development squad. He is classified as an LW12-2 skier. Hanlon travelled overseas with the Australian Winter Para-alpine development squad during the 2019–20 season. Para-alpine Skiing
Paralympic alpine skiing is an adaptation of alpine skiing for athletes with a disability. The sport evolved from the efforts of disabled veterans in Germany and Austria during and after the Second World War. The sport is governed by the International Paralympic Committee Sports Committee. The primary equipment used includes outrigger skis, sit-skis, and mono-skis. Para-alpine skiing disciplines include the Downhill, Super-G, Giant slalom, Slalom, Super Combined and Snowboard. Para-alpine skiing classification is the classification system for para-alpine skiing designed to ensure fair competition between alpine skiers with different types of disabilities. Weethalle ( ) is a town in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. The town is in the Bland Shire local government area and on the Mid-Western Highway, west of the state capital, Sydney, and north east of Griffith. At the , Weethalle and the surrounding area had a population of 307. The name "Weethalle" is said to be an Australian aboriginal word for drink. History The area now known as Weethalle lies on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people. The Weethalle area was set aside as homestead farms for returned soldiers in 1921. The Rankins Springs railway line was extended to Weethalle in 1922. Land clearing commenced and by 1923 the first wheat from the area was delivered to the Weethalle railway station. 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships
The 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships was an international disability sport competition held in Lillehammer, Norway from 8 to 23 January 2022. It was the inaugural edition of the World Para Snow Sports Championships with para-alpine skiing, para cross-country skiing, para biathlon and para snowboard being held. It was scheduled for 7 to 20 February 2021 but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway. The rescheduled event retained 2021 in its name.
