Joseph Weigl
Joseph Weigl (28 March 1766 – 3 February 1846) was an Austrian composer and conductor, born in Eisenstadt, Hungary, Austrian Empire. The son of Joseph Franz Weigl (1740–1820), the principal cellist in the orchestra of the Esterházy family, he studied music under Johann Georg Albrechtsberger, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri. He became Kapellmeister at the court theatre in Vienna in 1792, and from 1827 to 1838, was vice-Kapellmeister of the court. Weigl composed a number of operas, both Italian and German and in various genres, although most of his late works are pieces of sacred music. His best known work was the opera '' Die Schweizerfamilie'' (1809). He also set Emanuel Schikaneder's libretto ''Vestas Feuer'' (1805), after his close friend Ludwig van Beethoven had composed a single scene and then abandoned it. Weigl died in Vienna in 1846. The Komische Oper Berlin is a German opera company based in Berlin. The company produces operas, operettas and musicals. The opera house is located on Behrenstraße, near Unter den Linden. A puppet is an object, often resembling a human, animal or mythical figure, that is animated or manipulated by a person called a puppeteer. Thaddäus Weigl
Thaddäus Weigl (8 April 1776 – 10 February 1844) was an Austrian composer and music publisher. Life He was born in Vienna, son of Joseph Franz Weigl, a cellist in the Vienna Court Theatre, and younger brother of the composer Joseph Weigl. He studied music with Johann Georg Albrechtsberger, who had taught his brother. He went on to study philosophy and law, and meanwhile pursued his interest in composing. A cantata dedicated to his philosophy teacher Franz Samuel Karpe was performed, and he was encouraged by its success. A comic opera ''Die Marionettenbude oder der Jahrmarkt zu Grünwalde'', and an opera ''Idoli'', were staged in the Theater in der Leopoldstadt, and were well received.
