Joseph Tumpach
Joseph Tumpach (December 7, 1912 – October 20, 1968) was an American businessman and politician. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Tumpach was a businessman and owned a motel. He was also involved with the CIO and was chairman of the DuPage County, Illinois Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party. Tumpach lived in Downers Grove, Illinois. Tumpach served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1965 until his death in 1968. Tumpach and his wife Cecelia were killed in an automobile accident, in Westmont, Illinois, as they were leaving a dinner for Tumpach at a union hall. Downers Grove is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. It was founded in 1832 by Pierce Downer, whose surname serves as the eponym for the village. It is a south-west suburb of Chicago. The village is located between I-88 and I-55. Westmont is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. Westmont is a community of 5.03 square miles in area with a 2010 population of 24,685. It is located approximately west of the Chicago Loop in the southeastern portion of DuPage County. History The area known as Westmont was inhabited by the Potawatami until the year 1833.
