Joseph Truman
Joseph Truman (born 14 February 1997) is a British male track cyclist, representing Great Britain at international competitions. He won the silver medal at the 2016 UEC European Track Championships in the team sprint. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Truman won Silver in the team sprint event alongside Ryan Owens and Philip Hindes. Truman participated in two seasons (2018/19 and 2019/20) of the ‘JKA’ Japanese Keirin racing series, a hugely popular, multi million dollar gambling sport. A BBC documentary, ‘The Secret World of Japanese Bicycle Racing: with Sir Chris Hoy’ aired detailing the sport and following Truman’s experiences while competing Japan. Petersfield
Petersfield is a market town and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is north of Portsmouth. The town has its own railway station on the Portsmouth Direct line, the mainline rail link connecting Portsmouth and London. Cycling At The 2018 Commonwealth Games
Cycling at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held at the Currumbin Beachfront (road), Nerang National Park (mountain biking), both of which are located in the Gold Coast and Anna Meares Velodrome (track, located in Brisbane) from 5 to 14 April. A total of 26 events were held: 4 in road cycling, 2 in mountain biking and 20 in track cycling (including four events in para-track cycling). The 26 events were evenly split between men and women. This was done after the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) added more women's events in October 2016, to make the games a gender-equal games in terms of overall medal events. The 2016–17 UCI Track Cycling World Cup was a multi-race series over a track cycling season. It was the 25th edition of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup organised by the UCI. The series ran from 4 November 2016 to 26 February 2017 and consisted of four rounds. The 2022 British National Track Championships were a series of track cycling competitions. The National Track Championships (excluding certain events) were due to be held from 28 to 30 January 2022 at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome in Newport, Wales. However, following further issues regarding the COVID-19 pandemic the event was rescheduled for 3 March to 6 March. They are organised and sanctioned by British Cycling, and are open to British cyclists. The championships are sponsored by HSBC. Philip Hindes
Philip Hindes MBE (born 22 September 1992) is a British track cyclist, specialising in sprints. He holds dual nationality, having been born in Germany to a British father. Having initially competed for Germany at a junior level, in 2010 he switched to the British Cycling programme. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he won the gold medal in the Men's team sprint, and again at the 2016 Summer Olympics he won the gold medal in the Men's team sprint. Early life Hindes was born in Krefeld, Germany. His father served with the British Army in Germany where he met Hindes' German mother. He attended Heinrich Heine Gymnasium, a specialist sports school in Kaiserslautern, where he was coached by Frank Zeigler. Hindes represented his region, North Rhine-Westphalia in rowing, following his brother into the sport. Ryan Owens (born 29 September 1995) is a British male track cyclist, representing Great Britain at international competitions. 2018 Commonwealth Games
The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018.
