Joseph Trounsell Gilbert
Sir Joseph Trounsell Gilbert CBE QC (30 August 1888 – 23 January 1975) was a Bermudan barrister, judge and politician who ended a distinguished legal and political career as Chief Justice of Bermuda and as President of the Legislative Council of Bermuda. Biography Born on 30 August 1888, Trounsell Gilbert was educated at Bedford School and at Brasenose College, Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He was called to the Bar in 1914 and became a member of Lincoln's Inn. He was Attorney General, and a member of the Executive Council, of Bermuda between 1938 and 1952. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding valuable service in a wide range of useful activities. It comprises five classes of awards across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a Orders, decorations, and medals of the United Kingdom#Modern honours, knight if male or a dame (title), dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with the order, but are not members of it. The title of Knight Bachelor is the basic rank granted to a man who has been knighted by the monarch but not inducted as a member of one of the organised orders of chivalry; it is a part of the British honours system.
