Joseph Monson
Joseph Monson (1862-1932) was an architect based first in Logan, Utah and later in Salt Lake City, Utah. At least two of his works are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. He was born February 2, 1862, in Logan, and died February 16, 1932. He worked for his father's construction company, including, at age 16, helping to build the Logan LDS Temple. After he served a Mormon mission to Norway in 1883–85, he became an architect. In Logan, he partnered with Karl C. Schaub for eight years, with Monson as the senior partner. Monson and Schaub designed "major" buildings for the Agricultural College of Utah (later Utah State University) and most of the schools in Cache County. He served as Supervisory Architect for Utah State Schools for eight years. Logan, Utah
Logan is a city in Cache County, Utah, United States. The 2020 census recorded the population was 52,778. Logan is the county seat of Cache County and the principal city of the Logan metropolitan area, which includes Cache County and Franklin County, Idaho. The Logan metropolitan area contained 125,442 people as of the 2010 census and was declared by Morgan Quitno in 2005 and 2007 to be the safest in the United States in those years. Logan also is the location of the main campus of Utah State University. The Whittier School in Logan, Utah, at 280 North 400 East, was built in 1908. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. It was designed by Logan architect Joseph Monson. It includes elements of Romanesque and Prairie School architecture. David Eccles House
The David Eccles House, at 250 W. Center St. in Logan, Utah, was built in 1907. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It was designed by Logan architects Joseph Monson and Karl C. Schaub. Overall it is Eclectic or Late Victorian in style, with Queen Anne influence, with numerous Classical Revival style details, and with two turrets which have been termed Chateauesque. Through 1976 it was regarded as the largest home in Cache Valley. It has three stories, 24 rooms, and . Cache County ( ) is a county located in the Wasatch Front region of Utah. As of the 2020 United States Census the population was 133,154. Its county seat and largest city is Logan. Cache County is included in Logan metropolitan area. History Indigenous peoples occupied the valleys of present Cache County as much as 10,000 BCE. Near the present epoch, the valley served the Plains Indians and the Shoshone. Trappers and explorers visited the area in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
