Joseph Malongoane
Joseph Malongoane (born 17 March 1988) is a South African footballer who plays for Marumo Gallants. He was born in the village of Moletjie, Limpopo but grew up in Alexandra, Gauteng. The skilful midfielder started his professional career on the books of Platinum Stars under the guidance of coach Steve Komphela. His career then led him to stints with AmaZulu, Orlando Pirates and Chippa United. At the start of the 2016/17 season, Molangoane re-united with coach Steve again when he committed to Amakhosi for two years. Tight (as he is known by football fans) suffered a horrific injury when he broke his ankle playing against Free State Stars in August 2018. This saw him being ruled out for the rest of 2018. In May 2019, Kaizer Chiefs announced that midfielder has extended his stay with the Soweto giants after signing a one-year contract extension with an option to extend. 2020–21 Nedbank Cup
The 2020–21 Nedbank Cup is the 2020–21 edition of South Africa's premier knockout club football (soccer) competition, the Nedbank Cup. As a result of the suspension of amateur football due to the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa, COVID-19 pandemic, unlike in previous years, no amateur teams took part. Instead, all 16 2020–21 South African Premier Division, Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs and all 16 2020–21 National First Division, National First Division (NFD) teams entered the main draw of 32 teams, in spite of eight NFD teams losing their earlier first round matches. Teams are not seeded, and the first sides drawn receive home-ground advantage. There are no replays in the tournament, and any games which end in a draw after 90 minutes are subject to 30 minutes extra time followed by penalties if necessary. The Nedbank Cup is a South African club football (soccer) tournament. The knockout tournament, based on the English FA Cup format, was one of a weak opponent facing a stronger one. The competition was sponsored by ABSA until 2007, after which Nedbank took over sponsorship. The winner of the 2013–14 Nedbank Cup qualified for the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup. Nedbank Cup
The Nedbank Cup is the current name of South Africa's premier club soccer knockout tournament. While many formats have been used over the years, the tournament has always been based on the idea of giving lower league and amateur teams a chance to compete with clubs from the top league for the cup. The tournament is based on the English FA Cup, which has become known for "giant killings" (lower league clubs defeating a top-flight club). History The tournament was started in 1971 as the Life Challenge Cup, this name stayed in place until 1975. In 1976 and 1977, the tournament was known as the Benson and Hedges Trophy. From 1978 until 1987 the tournament was known as the Mainstay Cup. In 1988 the sponsorship was taken over by First National Bank, and was renamed the Bob Save Super Bowl. Oupa Manyisa
Oupa Manyisa (born 30 July 1988) is a South African footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Eastern Cape side Chippa United FC. He started his senior career with Orlando Pirates F.C. and went on to become a crowd pleaser and one of the key players in the squad, helping them dominate local football for two consecutive seasons, winning 2 trebles, also being runners up on the Champions League and Confederation Cup. After spending 9 seasons and making over 160 appearances for the Sea Robbers, Oupa set out to get a new challenge, much to the disappointment of the fans. He left Orlando Pirates F.C for Mamelodi Sundowns F.C in 2017, but failed to command a place in the starting 11, mostly because of picking up injuries and facing stiff competition in the team. Steve Komphela
Steve Komphela (born 1 July 1967) is a South African football coach and a former player. He is the former manager of Maritzburg United, Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic. He is currently working as a Senior Coach at Mamelodi Sundowns and he has been credited for his good work at Mamelodi Sundowns. Early life Steve was born in Golden Valley farm, 20 km outside Kroonstad to Jack Koyi Koyo and Nomalanga Komphela as the youngest of 11 children. Komphela became a teacher by profession after he got his teacher's diploma at Tshiya College in Free State. Club career Komphela started out at NSL Second Division side Klerksdorp City and later Qwa Qwa Stars where he earned promotion to the National Soccer League. Limpopo
Limpopo is the northernmost province of South Africa. It is named after the Limpopo River, which forms the province's western and northern borders. The capital and largest city in the province is Polokwane, while the provincial legislature is situated in Lebowakgomo.
