Joseph Kony
Joseph Rao Kony (born September 1961) is a Ugandan militant and warlord who founded the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), designated as a terrorist group by the MONUSCO, United Nations Peacekeepers, the European Union, and various other governments including the United Kingdom and United States. An Acholi people, Acholi, Kony served as an altar boy in his childhood. After the Ugandan Bush War, Ugandan Civil War, Kony participated in the subsequent War in Uganda (1986–1994), insurgency against president Yoweri Museveni under the Holy Spirit Movement or the Uganda People's Democratic Army before founding the LRA in 1987. Aiming to create a Christian state based on dominion theology, Kony directed the multi-decade Lord's Resistance Army insurgency. Ali Kony
Ali Ssalongo Kony (born 1990s) is a Ugandan militant and LRA's defector. He is the son of Joseph Kony. Life Ali Ssalongo Kony was born in Gulu in the early to mid-1990s to Joseph Kony and Medina Akulu. Akulu is Kony's third wife, who was abducted in 1989. At the age of six months, he moved from Gulu to join the LRA in the bush. As a member of the LRA, Ali was a brigadier, earning the nom de guerre "Caesar" and "Bashir". He had three bodyguards and was a merchant who trade ivory, gold, and marijuana from hunters, traders, and farmers, respectively and sold them to the big merchants in Songo. Holy Spirit Movement
The Holy Spirit Movement (HSM) was a Ugandan religiously syncretic Christian militant rebel organization centered upon its founder, self-declared spirit medium and prophetess Alice Lakwena (Auma). Alice, an ethnic Acholi, was purportedly directed to form the HSM by Lakwena, one of her spirits, in August 1986. The movement grew to adopt a military wing and waged a major but short-lived rebellion as part of the insurgency (1986–1994). It may have inspired Joseph Kony to begin his Lord's Resistance Army.
