Joseph Donahue (poet)
Joseph Donahue (born 1954) is an American poet, critic, and editor. Born in Dallas, Texas and growing up in Lowell, Massachusetts, Donahue attended Dartmouth College for his undergraduate degree and went on to Columbia University and lived for many years in New York City. He now resides in Durham, North Carolina, where he is a professor of the Practice at Duke University. John Ashbery
John Lawrence Ashbery (July 28, 1927 – September 3, 2017) was an American poet and art critic. Ashbery is considered the most influential American poet of his time. Oxford University literary critic John Bayley wrote that Ashbery "sounded, in poetry, the standard tones of the age." Langdon Hammer, chair of the English Department at Yale University, wrote in 2008, "No figure looms so large in American poetry over the past 50 years as John Ashbery" and "No American poet has had a larger, more diverse vocabulary, not Whitman, not Pound." Stephanie Burt, a poet and Harvard professor of English, has compared Ashbery to T. S. Gustaf Sobin
Gustaf Sobin (November 15, 1935 – July 7, 2005) was a U.S.-born poet and author who spent most of his adult life in France. Originally from Boston, Sobin attended the Choate School, Brown University, and moved to Paris in 1962. Daniel Donahue
Daniel J. Donahue (April 23, 1923 – March 20, 2015) was an American businessman who was the owner and president of the Atlanta Braves Major League Baseball club from 1973 until 1975. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, Donahue was a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and then served with the United States Navy during World War II. Following his service, he received his law degree and was a venture capitalist involved in many aspects of the business world. In 1976, Donahue sold the franchise to millionaire tycoon Ted Turner.
