Joseph Adipanga
Joseph Adipanga (24 February 1895–14 August 1939) was a Congolese soldier for the Belgian Army during the First World War and civil servant at the Belgian Ministry of the Colonies. Early life Adipanga was the son of Baka and Maria Somme. When general Jacques Collyns returned to Europe on 15 September 1911 from his work as a state inspector in the Belgian Congo, Adipanga accompanied him and went to Brussels where he founded a family. He married Berthe Colmadin. First World War The Congolese Volunteers' Corps for the Belgian Army was founded on 5 August 1914. Several Congolese volunteers enrolled, including Paul Panda Farnana and Adipanga. Under the lead of Louis-Napoléon Chaltin, Adipanga fought during the Siege of Namur, but was captured by the German Army, together with Farnana and Albert Kudjabo. Boma, Democratic Republic Of The Congo
Boma is a port town on the Congo River, some upstream from the Atlantic Ocean, in the Kongo Central, Kongo Central Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), adjacent to the Angola–Democratic Republic of the Congo border, border with Angola. It had an estimated population of 162,521 in 2012. Boma was the capital city of the Congo Free State and Belgian Congo (the modern Democratic Republic of the Congo) from 1 May 1886 to 1923, when the capital was moved to Léopoldville (since renamed Kinshasa). The port handles exports of tropical timber, bananas, Cocoa bean, cocoa, and Arecaceae, palm products. Royal Museum For Central Africa
The Royal Museum for Central Africa (RMCA) (; ; ), communicating under the name AfricaMuseum since 2018, is an ethnography and natural history museum situated in Tervuren in Flemish Brabant, Belgium, just outside Brussels. It was originally built to showcase King Leopold II's Congo Free State in the International Exposition of 1897. The museum focuses on the Congo, a former Belgian colony. The sphere of interest, however, especially in biological research, extends to the whole Congo Basin, Central Africa, East Africa, and West Africa, attempting to integrate "Africa" as a whole. Intended originally as a colonial museum, from 1960 onwards it has focused more on ethnography and anthropology. Like most museums, it houses a research department in addition to its public exhibit department. Not all research pertains to Africa (e.g. research on the archaeozoology of Sagalassos, Turkey).
