Joseph-Éloi Archambault
Joseph-Éloi Archambault (December 3, 1861 – December 23, 1916) was a Canadian politician. Born in St-Jacques-L'Achigan, Montcalm County, Canada East, the son of Francois Archambault and Ogine Magnan, Archambault was educated at L'Assomption College and Laval University. A notary, was Mayor of Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Quebec from 1895 to 1907 and Warden of the County of Berthier from 1895 to 1900. He became a member of the House of Commons of Canada for the electoral district of Berthier at a January 18, 1900 by-election by acclamation. Berthier (federal Electoral District)
Berthier () was a federal electoral district in the Canadian province of Quebec that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1925. It was created by the ''British North America Act'', 1867, and was abolished in 1924 when it was merged into Berthier—Maskinongé riding. A second "Berthier" riding was created in 1966. Cléophas Beausoleil (June 19, 1845 – October 4, 1904) was a Canadian journalist, publisher, office holder, lawyer, and politician. Born in Saint-Félix-de-Valois, Canada East, he was a journalist and lawyer before entering politics as an alderman with the Montreal City Council in 1882. He was acclaimed in 1885 and resigned in 1888. He was acclaimed again in 1892 and served until he was appointed postmaster in 1899. He was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1887 federal election in the riding of Berthier. A Liberal, he was re-elected in 1891 and acclaimed in 1896.
