Herbert Jory
Harrold Herbert Jory (20 March 1888 – 16 May 1966) , known as Herbert Jory, was a South Australian architect. He was a partner in the leading firm of Woods, Bagot & Jory from 1913, which became Woods, Bagot, Jory & Laybourne Smith from 1915 to 1930, before establishing his own practice, H. H. Jory. Between 1930 and 1940 he partnered with T.A. McAdam, in Jory and McAdam. He designed many churches in South Australia and was noted for his use of the Romanesque elements, sometimes combining them with Modernist ones. He was also known for his oversight of the construction of the Salisbury Explosives Factory during World War II. Jon Jory is a theatrical director instrumental in the development of Actors Theatre of Louisville; he is also widely rumored to be the writer behind the pseudonym Jane Martin. Percy Jory
Percival James Hector Jory (21 December 1888 – 19 September 1964) was an Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of John Jory (1855–1897), and Alice Jory (1856–1922), née Pearce, Percival James Hector Jory was born at Creswick, Victoria on 21 December 1888. His nephew, Edward Ronald "Ron" Jory (1925–2013) played for Essendon in the VFL, and for Oakleigh in the VFA. Football Recruited from the North Hobart Football Club in the Tasmanian Football League. His permit to play for St Kilda was granted on 24 April 1912, and he soon established himself as a forward who could also play in the ruck. He was a half-forward flanker in the 1913 VFL Grand Final loss to Fitzroy and two seasons later got suspended for 12 matches after being found guilty of elbowing an opponent. William Rex Jory is a retired Australian journalist. He was an associate editor of '' The Advertiser'', regular columnist for both ''The Advertiser'' and the '' Sunday Mail'' and leader writer for ''The Advertiser''. Jory was born and educated in Adelaide and joined '' The News'' as a copy boy in 1959. In 1965, he moved to London, working with the BBC, spent a year in South Africa and returned to Adelaide in 1970 as political writer for ''The News''. Rodney Leonard (Rod) Jory AM, (26 November 1938 – 14 October 2021), was an Australian physicist noted for establishing and running the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF/ NSSS) and for his contributions to Australian teams which have competed at the International Physics Olympiad. He retired from the position of director of the NYSF in January 2005, and currently resides in Canberra, Australia. Sarah Jory (born Sarah Elizabeth Jory; 20 November 1969 in Reading, Berkshire, England) is an English musician and vocalist. Early life Sarah Jory began to learn to play musical instruments at the age of five when she obtained her first steel guitar. In 1978, she was backed by the group Poacher when she was featured on the BBC Radio 2's ''Live from Golder's''. Also at the age of nine, she joined the band Colorado Country after her father, Arthur Jory, secured her an audition. Jory played with the band for four years while completing her schooling. During this time, the band changed their name to Sarah and the Colorado Country.
