Jorunn Sundgot-Borgen
Jorunn Kaiander Sundgot-Borgen (born 18 March 1961) is a Norwegian professor of sports medicine. She took the MSc degree at the Arizona State University in 1985, and the dr.scient. degree at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences in 1993. She held a post-doctorate scholarship at Yale University from 1993 to 1997. She was a part-time consultant for Olympiatoppen, the Norwegian elite sports program, from 1995 to 2008. She was an associate professor from 1997 to 2002, and is a professor since 2002, of sports medicine at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. Sports Medicine
Sports medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with physical fitness and the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. Although most sports teams have employed team physicians for many years, it is only since the late 20th century that sports medicine emerged as a distinct field of health care. Olympiatoppen is an organisation that is part of Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports with responsibility for training Norwegian elite sport. Olympiatoppen is based at the Toppidrettssenteret between Norwegian School of Sport Sciences and Sognsvann. The leader of Olympiatoppen is Tore Øvrebø. Central is the idea of ''coaches'' for priority sports. ''Budstikka'' (The Bidding Stick), prior to 2004 known as ''Asker og Bærum Budstikke'', is a daily local newspaper published out of Billingstad in Asker, Norway.
