Jorge Pierluisi Diaz
Jorge “Georgie” Pierluisi Diaz (September 29, 1927 – May 26, 2023) was a Puerto Rican civil engineer, contractor, and politician. He was the Secretary of Housing of Puerto Rico for eight years. Early life Pierluisi Diaz was born on September 29, 1927 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was a member of Nu Sigma Beta fraternity. Career Pierluisi Diaz was started as a lieutenant in the United States Army. He worked as a construction inspection, chief inspector, and civil engineer in the Design Department of the Army Antilles Engineers, part of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He became a general contractor and developer who constructed hospitals, hotels, housing, industrial buildings, office buildings, and shopping centers in Puerto Rico. He was the Secretary of Housing of Puerto Rico under the administration of Governor Carlos Romero Barceló, between 1977 and 1984. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease and the cause of 60–70% of cases of dementia. The most common early symptom is difficulty in remembering recent events. Puerto Rico National Cemetery
Puerto Rico National Cemetery is a United States national cemetery located in the city of Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Bayamón, in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. It encompasses of land, and at the end of 2005, had 44,722 interments. Until 2021, it was the only United States National Cemetery in Puerto Rico. A second United States National Cemetery was built in Morovis, Puerto Rico because the cemetery in Bayamón has reached its capacity. History The land in which the cemetery is located was under the jurisdiction of the United States Navy since 1898, when Spain ceded Puerto Rico to the United States as a consequence of the treaties signed which officially ended the Puerto Rican Campaign, Spanish–American War. Pedro Rafael Pierluisi Urrutia (born April 26, 1959) is an American politician and lawyer who served as the Governor of Puerto Rico from 2021 to 2025, having previously been the de facto governor from August 2–7, 2019. A member of New Progressive and Democratic Parties, he previously served as acting Secretary of State of Puerto Rico in 2019, as Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico from 2009 to 2017, and as Secretary of Justice of Puerto Rico from 1993 to 1997. He was formerly a private attorney for Puerto Rico's fiscal oversight board under the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act.
