Jorge Pardo (musician)
Jorge Pardo is a Spanish flautist and saxophonist born 1 December 1956 in Madrid, known for the albums he released for Milestone Records in the 1990s. He has been a side musician of famous flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia and also with American jazz legend Chick Corea. He occasionally joins the Al andalus ensemble for performances. Flautist
The flute is a member of a family of musical instruments in the woodwind group. Like all woodwinds, flutes are aerophones, producing sound with a vibrating column of air. Saxophonist
The saxophone (often referred to colloquially as the sax) is a type of Single-reed instrument, single-reed woodwind instrument with a conical body, usually made of brass. As with all single-reed instruments, sound is produced when a reed (mouthpiece), reed on a Mouthpiece (woodwind), mouthpiece vibrates to produce a sound wave inside the instrument's body. Milestone Records
Milestone Records is an American jazz record company and label founded in 1966 by Orrin Keepnews and Dick Katz in New York City. The company was bought by Fantasy Records in 1972. Since then, it has produced LP reissues (including items from Keepnew's earlier Riverside label) as well as new recordings. Sonny Rollins and McCoy Tyner are among the musicians who recorded for the label. Milestone has reissued many historic jazz recording sessions, including the Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, and the New Orleans Rhythm Kings sides made for Gennett Records in the 1920s. The label also issued blues albums, most of them produced by Pete Welding. They include Driftin' Slim & His Blues Band's ''Somebody Hoo-Doo'd The Hoo-Doo Man,'' in addition to LPs by Mississippi Fred McDowell and Big Joe Williams. Chick Corea
Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea (June 12, 1941 – February 9, 2021) was an American jazz pianist, composer, bandleader and occasional percussionist. His compositions "Spain (instrumental), Spain", "500 Miles High", "La Fiesta", "Armando's Rhumba" and "Windows (composition), Windows" are widely considered jazz standards. As a member of Miles Davis's band in the late 1960s, he participated in the birth of jazz fusion. In the 1970s he formed Return to Forever. Along with McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock and Keith Jarrett, Corea is considered to have been one of the foremost pianists of the post-John Coltrane era. Corea continued to collaborate frequently while exploring different musical styles throughout the 1980s and 1990s. ''The Rough Guide to Flamenco'' is a world music compilation album originally released in 1997. Part of the World Music Network Rough Guides series, the album gives broad coverage to the flamenco genre of Music of Spain, Spain. The compilation was produced by Phil Stanton, co-founder of the World Music Network. Liner notes were written by Tom Andrews. This was the first of three similarly named albums: The Rough Guide to Flamenco (2007 album), the second was released in 2007; The Rough Guide to Flamenco (2013 album), the third, in 2013. Critical reception The Album received mixed reviews. Writing for AllMusic, Adam Greenberg called it a "nice overview of the tradition", but that for purer forms, listeners should "look elsewhere". ''Antidote'' is a studio album by Chick Corea and The Spanish Heart Band. The album received a Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.
