Jorge Hernández (boxer)
Jorge Hernández (November 17, 1954 – December 12, 2019) born in Havana was a boxer from Cuba, who represented his native country at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada. There he won the gold medal in the light flyweight division (– 48 kg) by defeating North Korea's Li Byong-Uk in the final. Four years later, when Moscow hosted the Games, he was eliminated in the second round in the flyweight division (– 51 kg). Hernández won the world title at the inaugural 1974 World Championships in Havana, Cuba, followed by the silver medal four years later, when Belgrade hosted the World Championships. He also captured the gold at the 1975 Pan American Games. Light Flyweight
Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. The World Boxing Council (WBC) decided to resurrect this division in the 1970s. The first champion in this division was Franco Udella, who won the WBC title in 1975. Viktor Miroshnichenko
Viktor Miroshnichenko (russian: Виктор Мирошниченко; born 1 December 1959 in Donetsk, Ukrainian SSR) is a retired Ukrainian boxer, who represented the USSR at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Soviet Union. There he won the silver medal in the flyweight division (– 51 kg), after being defeated in the final by Bulgaria's Petar Lesov. Two years later he captured the silver medal at the World Championships in Munich, West Germany. Orlando Maldonado (born May 21, 1959 in Bayamón, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican former professional boxer who competed from 1977 to 1984, challenging for the WBC super flyweight title in 1983. As an amateur, he won the bronze medal in the men's light flyweight (– 48 kg) division at the 1976 Summer Olympics. It was the second medal ever for Puerto Rico, after boxer Juan Evangelista Venegas captured the Bronze medal in 1948. Park Chan-hee (Hangul: 박찬희, Hanja: 朴贊希; born 23 March 1957) is a retired South Korean boxer. As a professional he held the WBC and lineal titles in the flyweight division. As an amateur he won a gold medal at the 1974 Asian Games and placed fifth at the 1976 Summer Olympics.
