Jordan Wheeler
Jordan Wheeler (born 1964) is a Cree-Canadian writer. Along with numerous children's books, Wheeler has written scripts for the APTN National News, APTN and CBC News, CBC. He's also received a Gemini Award for Best Writing in a Children's or Youth Program or Series for his work on renegadepress.com. He is a member of the George Gordon First Nation in Saskatchewan. ''APTN National News'' is a Canadian television national news program broadcast by the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The program formerly broadcast in two daily editions, ''APTN National News Daytime'' at 12:30 p.m. and ''APTN National News Primetime'' at 6:30 p.m.. The program now produces a single half hour of news each day, broadcasts at 6 and 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time nightly, as well as various specialty programs including ''Investigates'' on Mondays and Fridays, ''Laughing Drum'', a half hour talk show where comedians review the headlines of the week, ''Face-to-Face'', a long form interview show, ''InFocus'' an hour long live interactive talk show, and ''Nation to Nation'', a show examining the political relationship between First Peoples and Canada. ''renegadepress.com'' is a Canadian teen drama television series, produced by Corner Gas, Vérité Films for the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. Plot The storyline follows the lives of a group of teenagers running an e-zine about their daily experiences. The main characters are Zoey (Ksenia Solo), an average upper middle-class girl who thinks of herself as a bit of a nerd, and Jack (Bronson Pelletier), a boy of First Nations in Canada, First Nations origin. The series deals with teenage topics, including relationships, sex and drugs. Every season, two to three new characters are introduced, who join in writing the e-zine. These characters are usually added to explore new areas of teen life and problems. The show is no longer in production, although reruns continue to air on APTN. The Gemini Awards were awards given by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television between 1986–2011 to recognize the achievements of Canada's television industry. The Gemini Awards are analogous to the Emmy Awards given in the United States and the BAFTA Television Awards in the United Kingdom. First held in 1986 to replace the ACTRA Award, the ceremony celebrated Canadian television productions with awards in 87 categories, along with other special awards such as lifetime achievement awards. ''North of 60'' is a 1990s Canadian television drama depicting life in the sub-Arctic northern boreal forest (north of 60° north latitude, hence the title). It first aired on CBC Television in 1992 and was syndicated around the world. It is set in the fictional community of Lynx River, a Canadian Indigenous community depicted as being in the Dehcho Region, Northwest Territories. Most of the characters were Dene.
