Jopay (song)
''Mayonnaise'' is the debut album of the Filipino alternative rock band, Mayonnaise. The album was released in November 2004, under VAMP Records, an independent music label. It was manufactured and distributed nationwide in the Philippines by Sony Music. Background Tracks of the album were all recorded at Wombworks Studios, owned by ace Razorback bassist Louie Talan. All songs were produced by Rommel Sanchez, accompanied by Kevin Roy (of Razorback) for vocal supervision. Mastering of the album was done in Tracks Studios in Pasig, by Angee Rozul. In November 21, 2019, the band released a remastered version of the album to commemorate its 15th anniversary titled Mayonnaise - (15th Anniversary Remaster). Jopay's resurgence In 2022, their 2004 hit song "Jopay" became popular for the second time because of the social media platform TikTok. Mayonnaise are a five-piece Filipino alternative rock band, fronted by Monty Macalino and famous for winning the "Red Horse Muziklaban" contest in 2004. History The band were named after the song " Mayonaise" by The Smashing Pumpkins and were formed in 2002 with a number of earlier former members until they settled with the four-piece lineup of Monty Macalino, Paga Manikan, Lee Maningas and Shan Regalado. They were launched into the mainstream in 2004 after winning the Grand Prize at the Red Horse Muziklaban 2004 composed of chief songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist Macalino, lead guitarist Manikan, bassist and backing vocalist Maningas, and drummer Regalado. Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Razorback (band)
Razorback is a Filipino hard rock band formed in 1990. Originally known for being regulars at the now-defunct Kalye, a club in Makati, the band has performed at full-scale concerts and opened for Silverchair, Rage Against the Machine and Metallica. History Razorback first began performing covers of bands such as Led Zeppelin, Juan de la Cruz Band, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. The group was put together by drummer Miguel Ortigas and guitarists Tirso Ripoll and David Aguirre. In 1982, Miguel Ortigas met Tirso Ripoll through the latter's cousin in La Salle Green Hills. Ortigas first handled guitars then later moved on to drums. Ortigas also studied in Yamaha School of Music, under Benjie Zialcita, who also taught Tirso Ripoll, Louie Talan and David Aguirre.
