Joop Stoffelen
Johannes Hendricus "Joop" Stoffelen (23 January 1921 – 26 June 2005) was a Dutch footballer who played as a midfielder. Stoffelen mainly played for Ajax, but also had stints at RC Paris, Toulouse, Blauw-Wit Amsterdam and Neerlandia. Career Stoffelen was fifteen years old when he first appeared for Ajax. Before that, he played with the amateurs of SEO, where he ended up in the first team after only three years of playing organised football. In the time that Stoffelen ended up at Ajax in late 1930s, it was wartime and at that time Ajax lost many players to the mobilization. It was also the period in which the successful team of the 1930s needed to be replaced. Stoffelen made his debut as a central midfielder, replacing the legendary Wim Anderiesen in this position. The Royal Dutch Football Association (, ; KNVB ) is the governing body of football in the Netherlands. It organises the main Dutch football leagues ( Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie), the amateur leagues, the KNVB Cup, and the Dutch men's and women's national teams. For three seasons in the 2010s, the KNVB and its Belgian counterpart operated a joint top-level women's league, the BeNe League, until the two countries dissolved the league after the 2014–15 season and re-established their own top-level leagues. ''Het Parool'' () is an Amsterdam-based daily newspaper. It was first published on 10 February 1941 as a resistance paper during the German occupation of the Netherlands (1940–1945). In English, its name means ''The Password'' or ''The Motto''. History Second World War The paper was preceded by a stenciled newsletter which was started in May 1940 by Frans Goedhart. In late 1940, Wim van Norden joined the group of producers of the newsletter; Van Norden would later serve as director of the newspaper between 1945 and 1979. Jaap Nunes Vaz also became involved with the newspaper. In 1944, the paper, albeit illegal and vigorously persecuted, reached a circulation of approximately 100,000, and it was distributed by the Dutch resistance.
