Joo Yang-ja
Joo Yang-ja (; January 1, 1931 – February 4, 2025) was a South Korean politician and medical doctor. She served as the 25th Minister of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea and in the 14th and 15th National Assembly. Joo was elected to the National Assembly in the 1992 election as a list candidate for the Democratic Liberal Party. She lost her seat on March 2, 1996, when she left the party to join the United Liberal Democrats The United Liberal Democrats (ULD; ) was a right-wing politics, right-wing conservatism, conservative political party in South Korea, whose support mostly came from the North Chungcheong Province and South Chungcheong Province regions. ''Seoul Shinmun'' () is a Korean-language daily newspaper published in South Korea. The newspaper claims descendency from a newspaper established by Englishman Ernest Bethell in Korea on 29 June 1904 called '' The Korea Daily News'' (''Taehan maeil sinbo''); per this claim, ''Seoul Shinmun'' would be the oldest active newspaper in South Korea. It published in both English and Korean, and soon became significantly influential due to its ability to publish critically about the Japanese government, which was rapidly encroaching on Korean sovereignty at the time.
