Jonathan Sinclair (diplomat)
Jonathan William Rossiter Sinclair (born 13 October 1970) is a British diplomat who is Director of Human Resources at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Career Sinclair was educated at Radley College and studied at Oxford University for a Bachelor of Arts, BA degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, PPE and at Johns Hopkins University for a Master's degree in International Relations. After short stints in media and tourism he joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1996. He was a Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary (then Jack Straw) 2002–04, and head of the political team at the British embassy in Washington, D.C., 2005–09. He was High Commissioner (Commonwealth), High Commissioner to New Zealand, non-resident High Commissioner to Samoa, and non-resident Governor of the Pitcairn Islands, Governor of the Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands 2014–18. Jill Gallard is a British diplomat who served as List of diplomats of the United Kingdom to Germany, British Ambassador to Germany from November 2020 to September 2024. Previously she was the British Ambassador to Portugal, director of human resources at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and deputy political director at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Early life Born in Omagh, Northern Ireland, and raised in Omagh and County Antrim, Gallard was educated at Ballyclare High School and gained an Master of Arts, MA degree in French and Spanish from the University of Edinburgh. Career Gallard joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1991. She has served at Madrid and Prague and in various posts at the FCO, including at the European Commission in Brussels. Governor Of The Pitcairn Islands
The Governor of Pitcairn is the representative of the Monarchy of the United Kingdom, British monarch in the Pitcairn Islands, the last remaining British Overseas Territory in the Pacific Ocean. Despite technically being under the authority of the colonial governor, Pitcairn has local autonomy. Because of the dependency's small population (it peaked at 233 in the 1930s, and has since dwindled to 35 in 2023https://www.immigration.pn/life-on-pitcairn-island), the British never considered it worthwhile to station a resident governor on Pitcairn. Instead, the Governor of Fiji doubled as governor of Pitcairn from 1898 onward.
