Jonathan Kipkorir
Jonathan Kosgei Kipkorir (born 29 December 1982) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in road running competitions, including marathons. He is a two-time winner of the Venice Marathon, with consecutive wins in 2006 and 2007, and won the 2010 Beppu-Ōita Marathon. He also competes over the half marathon and has wins from the Rome-Ostia Half Marathon and Porto Half Marathon. His personal best in the marathon is 2:07:31 while he has run 1:00:19 for the half marathon distance. Career He began his professional career in Europe around 2004 and one of his first elite races was the Rotterdam Half Marathon, where he ran a time of 1:03:13 for sixth place. Long-distance Runner
Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. On the other side, anaerobic respiration occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, and this is common towards the final stretch of races when there is a drive to speed up to a greater intensity. Shanghai Marathon
The Shanghai International Marathon is an annual marathon in late autumn hosted by Shanghai, China, since 1996. The marathon is categorized as a Platinum Label Road Race by World Athletics. The marathon starts at the '' Bund Bull'' and finishes at Shanghai Stadium. History The inaugural race was held in 1996 as the "Shanghai International Citizen Marathon". Daniel Njenga
Daniel Njenga Muturi (born 7 May 1976) is a Kenyan long-distance runner, who specializes in the marathon. He had his first successes in 1995 as he won the steeplechase gold medal at the 1995 Summer Universiade and also the Chiba International Cross Country meeting. He was based in Japan from early on in his early career and won the steeplechase at the Japanese Championships on three occasions. Njenga turned to marathon running and made his debut in 1995 at the Saitama Marathon in Ageo, Saitama, Japan, placing first, and then coming in tenth in his second marathon at the 1999 Fukuoka Marathon. His breakthrough year came in 2002 when he was the runner-up at the Beppu-Oita Marathon and Chicago Marathon. Robert Cheboror (born 1978 in Kipsaos, Keiyo District) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon. Biography He won the Lille Métropole Half Marathon in 2002, setting a personal best of 1:01:42 for the half marathon distance. At the Berlin Half Marathon the following year, Cheboror came near his best with a run of 1:01:55 for second behind Paul Kirui. He acted as the pacemaker for the 2003 Amsterdam Marathon and he continued running past the usual 35 km drop-out mark, eventually finishing in ninth place to record his first marathon finish in a time of 2:11:06. The Rome Marathon is an annual marathon competition hosted by the city of Rome, Italy. History The competition has also doubled as the Italian Marathon championships on two occasions; in 1983 and 1986. The race date was shifted from the traditional March schedule to 1 January in 2000 for a special edition of the event to celebrate the beginning of the new millennium.
