Jon Åker
Jon Erik Åker (February 26, 1927 – April 18, 2013) was a Norwegian hospital director. He grew up with his grandparents in rural Sunnfjord, and attended Firda Upper Secondary School before going on to the Norwegian School of Economics. He was hired as manager at Lillehammer Hospital in 1955 and financial director at the Red Cross Clinic in 1958. He graduated as a Master of Hospital Administration from the University of Michigan in 1963. In 1964 he was hired as secretary at Akershus University Hospital. Following a leave to serve as manager of the refugee hospital Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem, he was promoted to financial director at Akershus University Hospital. He was then the long-serving director of Akershus University Hospital from 1969 to 1997. Sunnfjord
Sunnfjord ( en, the southern fjord - in contrast to Nordfjord) is a traditional district in Western Norway located in Vestland county. It includes the municipalities of Askvoll, Fjaler, the southernmost parts of Kinn, Sunnfjord, and the southernmost parts of Bremanger. It covers an area of about and has a population (2016) of 43,324–about 8% of the population of Vestland county. The central geographical characteristic of the Sunnfjord region are the fjords: Dalsfjorden and Førdefjorden. It is a tourist region, with waterfalls, fishing, white-water rafting, glaciers, hiking, and scenery–including Jostedalsbreen National Park. ''Romerikes Blad'' is a local newspaper published in Lillestrøm, Norway. It covers the Romerike district. History and profile ''Romerikes Blad'' was established by Martin Julius Halvorsen in 1902 in Jessheim under the name ''Akershusingen'', and was affiliated with the Norwegian Labour Party. The King's Medal of Merit (Norwegian: ''Kongens fortjenstmedalje'') is a Norwegian award. It was instituted in 1908 to reward meritorious achievements in the fields of art, science, business, and public service. It is divided in two classes: gold and silver. The medal in gold is rewarded for extraordinary achievements of importance to the nation and society. The medal in silver may be awarded for lesser achievements.
