Jon Nuss
Jon Nuss (born June 22, 1987 in Phoenix, Arizona) is an American pair skater. With former partner Jessica Rose Paetsch, he is the 2008 U.S. Junior Champion and a two-time bronze medalist at the Junior Grand Prix Final. Career He teamed up with Jessica Rose Paetsch in May 2005. Paetsch & Nuss are the 2006 US National novice champions and 2007 national junior bronze medalists. They won the bronze medal at the 2006 Junior Grand Prix Final. Although they placed fourth on the day, they were later awarded the bronze medal from the 2007–2008 Junior Grand Prix Final following the retroactive disqualification of first-place-finishers Vera Bazarova and Yuri Larionov due to a positive doping sample from Larionov. This bronze medal guaranteed Paetsch & Nuss a spot on the 2008–2009 Grand Prix of Figure Skating. ISU Junior Grand Prix
The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating (titled the ISU Junior Series in the 1997–98 season) is a series of international junior-level competitions organized by the International Skating Union. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The series was inaugurated in 1997 to complement the senior-level ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. World Junior Figure Skating Championships
The World Junior Figure Skating Championships (''"World Juniors"'' or ''"Junior Worlds"'') is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which figure skaters within a designated age range compete for the title of World Junior champion. The ISU guidelines for junior eligibility have varied throughout the years – currently, skaters must be at least 13 years old but not yet 19 before the previous 1 July, except for men competing in pair skating and ice dancing where the age maximum is 21. United States Figure Skating Championships
The U.S. Figure Skating Championships is a figure skating competition held annually to crown the national champions of the United States. The competition is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating. In the U.S. skating community, the event is often referred to informally as "Nationals". Medals are currently awarded in four disciplines: men's (boys') singles, ladies' (girls') singles, pair skating, and ice dancing in four colors: gold (first), silver (second), bronze (third), and pewter (fourth) on two levels, senior and junior. Medals were previously given at the novice, intermediate, and juvenile levels. The 2008 Skate Canada International was the second event of six in the 2008–09 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Ontario on October 30 – November 2. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Yuri Yuryevich Larionov (russian: link=no, Юрий Юрьевич Ларионов, born 19 August 1986) is a Russian pair skater. With former partner Vera Bazarova, he is the 2012–13 Grand Prix Final silver medalist, a three-time European medalist (silver in 2012; bronze in 2011 and 2014), the 2007 World Junior silver medalist, and the 2012 Russian national champion. They won six senior Grand Prix series medals outside the final, including gold at the 2012 NHK Trophy. Early life and education Larionov was born on 19 August 1986 in Novosibirsk, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. His family later moved to Tashkent, Uzbek SSR, due to his father's army service. He began skating in 1990, introduced to the activity by his mother, who was concerned about his health. Jessica Rose Paetsch (born January 31, 1993 in Denver, Colorado) is an American pair skater. With former partner Jon Nuss, she is the 2008 U.S. Junior Champion and a two-time bronze medalist at the Junior Grand Prix Final. Career Paetsch first tried to compete with Brady Miller. With former partner Yuri Larionov, she is the 2012–13 Grand Prix Final silver medalist, a three-time European medalist (silver in 2012; bronze in 2011 and 2014), the 2007 World Junior silver medalist, and the 2012 Russian national champion.
