Jon Mitchell (meteorologist)
Was born 21/07/1961 Jon Mitchell is a British meteorologist and weather presenter. Early life He grew up in Morecambe in Lancashire, attending Lancaster Grammar School (since 1971 Lancaster Grammar School). Career Jon Mitchell started work with the Met Office on leaving school in 1978. At that time he described work as: "We spent most of our time plotting charts with two pens sellotaped together. The finished product was a work of art that took three solid hours sitting at a desk to complete." In 1986 Jon was posted to the Leeds weather centre. His first televised TV forecast was when he was asked to stand in for Bob Rust. However, at this time he just provided a voice for the forecast and did not appear in vision. He became a weather presenter for Yorkshire Television in 1989. Though some regional forecasts were broadcast without an in-vision presenter pre-2002. Jon Mitchell (journalist)
Jon Mitchell is a Welsh journalist and author residing in Yokohama, Japan. Mitchell has written widely about Okinawa, especially on issues created by the ongoing presence of the United States Armed Forces. He was awarded the inaugural Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan's Freedom of the Press Lifetime Achievement Award for this work in 2015. In 2021, Mitchell's book, ''Poisoning the Pacific: The US Military's Secret Dumping of Plutonium, Chemical Weapons, and Agent Orange,'' won Second Place in the Society of Environmental Journalists annual awards for Reporting on the Environment. Work Mitchell is a visiting researcher at the International Peace Research Institute of Meiji Gakuin University. 2010–11 SIJHL Season
The 2010–11 SIJHL season was the 10th season of the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL). The six teams of the SIJHL played 56-game schedules. Come February, the top teams of the league played down for the Bill Salonen Cup, the SIJHL championship. The winner of the Bill Salonen Cup will compete in the Central Canadian Junior "A" championship, the Dudley Hewitt Cup. If successful against the winners of the Ontario Junior Hockey League and Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, the champion would then move on to play in the Canadian Junior Hockey League championship, the 2011 Royal Bank Cup. Jon Mitchell (politician)
Jonathan F. Mitchell (born March 10, 1969) is an American lawyer politician and a former federal prosecutor who has served as Mayor of New Bedford, Massachusetts, since January 2012. He was elected in the 2011 mayoral election after former mayor Scott W. Lang chose not to seek reelection, and was reelected in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019. In 2017, New Bedford adopted a four-year mayoral term effective in 2019, and Mitchell was elected to the city's first four-year term that year. As mayor, Mitchell has overseen a focus on New Bedford's port and the development of the offshore wind industry alongside the city's longstanding commercial fishing industry, as well as education reform of the New Bedford Public Schools, which had been rated as underperforming by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education before his tenure.
